Nguyen Thuy Trang (also known as Thuy Lam) was crowned as the Miss Universe Vietnam 2008 in a beauty contest held on May 31st, 2008 at Nha Trang's Vinpearl Land Resort. Along with US$12,000 crown, she also won VND100 million ($6,060) and a $2,000 scholarship to study English. Moreover, She was also awarded the Miss Talent, Miss Vote and Miss Best Interview awards in the same event.
She used to live in Germany and is fluent in both English and German. She along with 1st runner up Vo Hoang Yen and 2nd runner up Duong Truong Thien Ly outperformed 17 other women at the Miss Vietnam Contest.
She is also a popular Vietnamese Singer and a TV actress. The 20 year old beauty queen will now represent Vietnam and be the host contestant at the Miss Universe 2008 beauty pageant in July, 2008.
After winning, the title of Miss Universe Vietnam 2008, she said:
